Ukrainian Clients in Polish Banks: A Growing Trend

As of mid-2024, Polish banks are serving at least 2.4 million foreign customers, with personal accounts being the product of choice for most. Leading the market is PKO Bank Polski, now serving nearly 800,000 foreign clients, followed by Santander Bank Polska with 623,000 and BNP Paribas with 412,000. A significant portion of these clients are Ukrainian nationals, who make up over 1.5 million accounts in total.
Santander Bank Polska has 349,000 Ukrainian clients, BNP Paribas serves 344,000, and while PKO Bank Polski hasn't disclosed specific numbers recently, estimates suggest they could serve around 500,000 Ukrainians, having reported 520,000 new accounts opened by Ukrainian citizens since the start of the war.
These numbers highlight the important role Ukrainian clients play in the growth and stability of the Polish banking sector.
